Wed., 1/27 from 5 to 6: Fed Sem Alumni Panel to Offer Tips for Internship Success

Fed Sem'ers: You're on the cusp of a an exciting--and perhaps a little intimidating--internship opportunity! To help calm your nerves and prepare you for this wonderful self- and professional-development opportunity, we have organized:

The Federal Semester Alumni Panel
Wednesday, January 27th from 5 to 6 PM in the Federal Semester Office.

Comprised of students who were in your shoes last year, a group of Fed Sem alums have kindly offered their time to share their experiences from last year--ranging from congressional to federal to NGO internships. In a friendly, casual environment, they will discuss their job duties, a typical day, the skills/insights they gained, tips for success, and they may even share a few flubs they, or a sister's friend's cousin, made on the job. They will also, of course, make themselves available for your questions.

All are encouraged to attend. This event will count as one of your two required federal events. Don't hesitate to contact the office with any questions!

Interview Workshops--This Week

Internship interviews...a piece of cake? Hmmmm....if you are at all like me, you probably don't think that this is an entirely accurate statement! Interview practice will, however, if not make it seem easy, at least ease your interview anxiety.

To help you prep, Federal Semester has put together a one-hour interview workshop that we're offering at three different times this week in our office, 3103 Susquehanna Hall:

• Wednesday, 2-3 pm
• Friday, 11 am - 12 pm
• Friday, 3-4 pm

The workshop will cover types of interview questions/response strategies along with opportunities to put learning into practice through mock interviews and participatory exercises.

Sept. 11 Open House includes 3 p.m. Stipends/Requirements

Sept. 11, Friday's Open House noon to four p.m.
Includes 3 p.m. question and answer session about requirements for course and for stipends! Come with any questions! Also, come to Open House with resumes and cover letters or queries of where to apply for internships, etc.! Or just to chat! See you soon.
