Internship Posting: City Schools' Summer Teacher Fellow and Graduate/Undergraduate Intern Program

City Schools' Summer Teacher Fellow and Graduate/Undergraduate Intern Program for 2012 is now accepting applications. Fellows will be assigned to projects that focus on any number of public education policy issues and challenges. Fellows and graduate interns are placed based on their backgrounds, interests and the needs of the departments. At the conclusion of the summer, fellows and graduate interns will provide a written report for the CEO, summarizing their project and overall experience. Fellows and interns will also be assigned to a work group in which they will participate in researching a policy issue for City Schools and provide recommendations through a public presentation to the CEO and Cabinet members. While providing City Schools with valuable research and project management during the summer, these fellowships and intern opportunities are also designed to encourage talented individuals to pursue careers in or related to public education.

This year’s fellowship/internship period runs from June 19 through August 17. Fellows and interns will be able to work up to 40 hours per week during this period and will be required to attend various meetings and brown bag lunch sessions with Cabinet members. Fellows and graduate interns will make up to $6,880; undergraduates will receive just over $4,000. Requests to work fewer than 40 hours per week or on a flexible schedule will be granted on an individual basis. Graduate interns who will be enrolled in programs during Fall 2012 may be eligible to extend their fellowship into the school year at the discretion of the managing office.

The Office of Grants and Financial Management, Policy Section, is looking to fill an open intern position. I am looking to fill this position within the next 3 weeks (sooner if possible). The position is located at our headquarters in Washington, DC.



Eligible applicants can be undergrad juniors or seniors, or graduate students. They can be studying any field of discipline, and they have to be in school at least on a part-time schedule. The student would be required to work a minimum of 15 – 20 hours per week (a FT schedule is available, although it may be difficult for an undergrad student) and preferably be able to work over holiday breaks. If the student is available to work over the summer, they can become full-time if interested. The position is a GS-04/05/06 in the Federal Government, but this position is unfortunately ineligible to receive Federal benefits.



The position itself is located in the Policy division at NIFA. The Policy Staff implements legislation related to NIFA’s grant programs. In addition, they draft regulations and issue solicitations on behalf of NIFA. The hired applicant will have the opportunity to gain experience in and learn about various aspects of grants management from a policy perspective. The highly competitive National Clandestine Service (NCS) Internship Program gives a limited number of talented undergraduate students the opportunity to work in supporting the NCS mission of collecting human intelligence on critical international developments. With a new Congress in session, historic reforms to protect, and a lot left to be done, 2011 is set to be a busy year.

Here at Organizing for America, we're gearing up for the work of the coming months -- and we're on the lookout for students, recent graduates, and anyone else who believes in the power of organizing to join our spring internship program.

OFA spring interns will be trained on the strategies and principles of effective grassroots organizing -- and they'll put those skills to good use helping defend the accomplishments we've made and continue to move the country forward.

For at least 15 hours each week, from February 8th until May 8th, interns will:

-- Organize in communities to support President Obama's most important policy priorities;
-- Work side by side with OFA staffers, volunteer leaders, and other interns; and
-- Engage voters who haven't been involved in the political process before, or who got involved for the first time in 2008.

The Maryland Democratic Party Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in Maryland’s political process.

We are now accepting applications for Spring 2011 Maryland Democratic Party Internships. There are several program slots still available. The spring internship will run from February 2011 to May 2011 with the potential for an extension. Internships will focus in several areas including fundraising, communications, social media, field activity, research and political outreach.
