Description: The Black Faculty and Staff Association invites the community to a special event at its General Body Meeting, honoring the long struggle to make the University of Maryland a fair and respectful workplace. Author and organizer Juliana Barnet will discuss her book Rainwood House Sings, which features a fictional but true-to-life look at the campus workers’ movement, incorporating experiences, feelings and issues that UMD blue collar workers face. Participants in the real-life movement—BFSA members, workers, student and union activists—will share experiences, and we’ll talk about the intersection and interplay between imagination, inspiration and our experience.
