UMD Career Center Internship & Announcement

Press Internship in the Office of Congressman Dan Kildee
(Representing Michigan’s 5th District)
Congressman Dan Kildee’s Washington, D.C. office is seeking a motivated press intern for a fast paced and demanding internship. While schedules are flexible, the press intern must be able to commit 30-40 hours per week. The intern will learn how a communications shop operates and interact with the other departments to help create a succinct message.

Congressional Internships, Presented by UMD alumnus Scott Baker

University Career Center & The President's Promise (3100 Hornbake Library)

Mr. Scott Baker is a University of Maryland College Park alumnus who served as a congressional staff member for 13 years and was the Washington Internship Coordinator to former U.S. Congressman Chet Edwards of Waco, Texas from 2003 to 2011.

In this session, Mr. Baker will provide students a better understanding of how to research and apply to congressional internships. He will also give insight on how to best develop your resume, cover letter and writing samples to stand out amongst the competition.
