Internship Opportunity with Navy Office of Information

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, this year, employers will hire 22-percent fewer college graduates. As Kent Brockman, The Simpsons harbinger of social commentary quipped,
“Now joblessness isn’t just for philosophy majors.”

In all seriousness, relevant work experience has never been more important for entry-level job seekers. One great boon to us Terps is our proximity to the employment-rich departments of the Federal Government.

If only we could get a foot in the door… Enter the University of Maryland’s Federal Semester/Federal Service Fellows Program. This spring, the program is offering students two internship opportunities with the Navy Office of Information. Interns will be based at the Pentagon, where they will have opportunities to: learn about the key functions of Navy public affairs; receive hands-on experience in environmental public affairs planning and execution; and polish communication skills in a military agency headquarters office.

For more information about this opportunity, contact Federal Semester GA Joey Manfredo at manfredo@umd.edu.
